== Frequently Asked Questions ==
= Do published <PubML>™ eBooks rely on any databases or middleware? =

No. <PubML>™ eBooks are self-contained. Put them on a web server or distribute them as digital downloads. No databases or PHP are involved.

= What about traditional ePub eBooks? =

EPub eBooks don\'t support photo footnotes or hosted media but you can use the <PubML>™ eBook Publishing tools to export an elegantly typeset ePub2 eBook for distribution through popular eBookstores.

= What do I get if I don\'t subscribe? =

Without a subscription, the <PubML>™ eBook Publishing tools are fully functional with the exceptions that you cannot preview, embed, or export an eBook. You can enter books, style books, add footnotes and media, add web fonts, and then subscribe when you\'re ready to publish.

= What happens to my books if my subscription expires? =

Your books will remain fully functional and you will continue to receive all <PubML>™ eBook Publishing tools updates. Users with expired licenses will be unable to publish revisions or new books, or to add new features to old books, but you will never be required to pay to keep your published or embedded eBooks working.

= What does a subscription cost? =

A license to publish up to a dozen eBooks will cost $100 per year. Licensing arrangements for book designers, small publishers, corporations, and educational institutions are also available.

= How do you charge publishers for book sales? =

We don't. Books you create using the <PubML>™ eBook Publishing tools are 100% yours.

= If the <PubML>™ format is GPL-licensed, what about my content? =

The <PubML>™ format is GPL-licensed but your content belongs to you. You retain copyright to any text, images, or other media that you embed in an eBook. Any custom css code you create that controls the formatting and display of eBooks, any modifications you make to the functional <PubML>™ eBook code, and any images included with the <PubML>™ eBook Format or Publishing tools remain GPL-licensed so anyone can use or modify them.
